Unfortunately, I can’t give you the rights to what I don’t have. If you are worried as to whether someone will sue you, the answer is “probably not”.

I have looked into the issues around acquiring the copyrights to the original game back from the publisher — in fact I spent about five thousand dollars on legal fees. The situation is…complicated, and I don’t want to go into the details. There are a lot of different rights involved — rights to the trademark, the characters, the source code, the art — some of these are more problematic than others.
